Master Page Tools 2.0 Copyright (c) 2002 Silicon Prairie Software ------------------------------------------- Welcome to Master Page Tools. Master Page Tools is a FrameMaker plug-in that provides the following tools for working with FrameMaker master pages: Apply Master Pages -- Applies master pages to a FrameMaker document or all of the files in a FrameMaker book, based on a set of rules you create. The most common criteria is whether a specific paragraph tag appears on a page. List Master Pages -- Lists the master pages that have been applied to a FrameMaker document. What's new ---------- Master Page Tools 2.0 now allows you to use MasterPage markers in your documents, which allow more control over how master pages are applied. MasterPage markers are especially useful when applying master pages for large tables or graphics. Do I need Master Page Tools? ---------------------------- FrameMaker 7 now provides the capability to apply master pages automatically. However, the implementation isn't easy to understand, and can be difficult to set up. It also doesn't provide the flexibility needed for complex documents with large graphics or tables. You may find that Master Page Tools better suits your needs. Contents -------- This package contains the following items: FrameMaker 6.x components: MasterPage.fm - A sample set of master page rules mptools - The Master Page Tools plug-in used by FrameMaker 6.x. FrameMaker 7.x components: MasterPage.fm - A sample set of master page rules mptools - The Master Page Tools plug-in used by FrameMaker 7.x. Documentation ------------- Documentation for Master Page Tools is available in PDF form from the Silicon Prairie Software web site. (http://www.SiliconPrairieSoftware.com) Installation ------------ Perform the following steps to install Master Page Tools for Sun Solaris: 1. Decide where you want the plug-in to be located and copy it there. Remember this location. 2. Add an entry describing your client to the $FMHOME/fminit/UILanguage/APIArea/apiclients file, where UILanguage is a user-interface language directory. For example, if youÕre using the US English version of a FrameMaker product, you edit the file $FMHOME/fminit/usenglish/APIArea/apiclients. The entry should look like the following: > Replace the xxxxxx with the complete path to the mptools executable. This is the location you decided in step 1. 3. Restart FrameMaker. MasterPage.fm document location ------------------------------- If you want to have a default set of master page rules on Solaris, copy the MasterPage.fm document to the $FMHOME/fminit directory. This allows the MasterPage.fm document to be found by the Solaris version of the plug-in. Shareware notice ---------------- Master Page Tools is shareware.
