AutoText.fm - A FrameMaker file that contains Auto-Text items. Documentation ------------- Documentation for Auto-Text is available in PDF form from the Silicon Prairie web site. (http://www.SiliconPrairieSoftware.com) Installation ------------ Perform the following steps to install Auto-Text for Sun Solaris: 1. Decide where you want the plug-in to be located and copy it there. Remember this location. 2. Add an entry describing your client to the $FMHOME/fminit/UILanguage/APIArea/apiclients file, where UILanguage is a user-interface language directory. For example, if youÕre using the US English version of a FrameMaker product, you edit the file $FMHOME/fminit/usenglish/APIArea/apiclients. The entry should look like the following: > Replace the xxxxxx with the complete path to the autotext executable. This is the location you decided in step 1. 3. Decide where you want the AutoText.fm file located. If you want to share the same set of Auto-Text items among several users, copy the AutoText.fm file to the ÒfminitÓ directory where you have FrameMaker installed. If you want individual users to have their own set of Auto-Text items, copy the AutoText.fm document to each userÕs home directory. If you do not have write access to the ÒfminitÓ directory, copy the AutoText.fm file to your home directory. 4. Restart FrameMaker. Shareware notice ---------------- Auto-Text is shareware. If you find Auto-Text useful, please pay the shareware fee. Once you pay the shareware fee, instructions will be sent to you that describe how to disable the registration remider displayed each time you start FrameMaker. The $10 cost is minimal, given the amount of time and hassle that Auto-Text saves! Paying the shareware fee also encourages development of other tools like Auto-Text. Kagi, a shareware payment service, handles payment processing for Auto-Text. Ordinarily, a registration application is used to create an electronic or paper document that can be sent to them indicating the form of payment. Unfortunately, this application is available only for Windows and the Macintosh. It is _not_ available for Solaris. To register Auto-Text, we recommend that you download either the Macintosh or Windows version of Auto-Text, then use the Register application that comes in either package. If you are unable to use either register using the Macintosh or Windows versions of Register, you may want to register online through the Silicon Prairie web site: http://www.SiliconPrairieSoftware.com If none of these payment methods is possible, please e-mail Silicon Prairie Software so payment can be arranged. Our e-mail address is SPSoftware@kagi.com. Comments and suggestions If you have any comments or suggestions for Auto-Text, please e-mail them to SPSoftware@kagi.com.
